About the role

You will draw on experience in accounting and taxation to provide tax equity investment consulting services for clients. You will lead a team in the TCIA Practice, helping to build Cherry Bekaert’s renewable energy practice.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the post-Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OB3) credit regime including ITCs for solar, wind, storage, etc., Production Tax Credits, Clean Hydrogen, Clean Fuel, Advanced Manufacturing, Nuclear, Carbon Sequestration, and Clean Fuel.
  • Experience with Transferability rules (Section 6418) and prior credit transferability transactions.
  • Experience with Direct Pay regime (Section 6417).
  • Substantial knowledge of cost segregation support, credit adders and enhancers, Prevailing wage & apprenticeship, Domestic content, Energy Community qualification, Foreign Entity of Concern rules, and Credit recapture risk.
  • Assist in building market presence through webinars and published articles.
  • Work closely with core tax partners to bring credit transfer opportunities to them.
  • Proactively work with outside brokers and firms offering available tax credits on the transferability market.

Requirements

  • 7+ years' experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
  • Knowledge of HLBV Accounting Concepts.
  • Certified or in the process of obtaining a CPA, enrolled agent, or other appropriate certification.
  • Financial modeling expertise.
  • Previous Big 4 experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of Subchapter K and investment partnership taxation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tax equity investment structures.
  • Knowledge of the investment and production tax credits associated with wind, solar, biomass projects.
