About the Role

As the Corporate Program Manager of Energy, you will manage a portfolio of energy-related efforts for H-E-B. You will provide strategic input into our corporate resilience and grid strategy program, develop and maintain relationships with utilities, Retail Electric Providers (REPs), and regulators, and help navigate ongoing changes in ERCOT market policy. Your role will involve executing project plans, engaging with utilities or regulators, briefing leadership, and troubleshooting field issues with stores or facilities. You will represent H-E-B in regulatory, legislative, and utility meetings and translate complex developments into actionable insights for the broader team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain program processes, standards, schedules, and success metrics for energy initiatives.
  • Represent H-E-B in ERCOT, PUCT, utility, and legislative meetings; track proposed rules, market changes, or legislative initiatives and assess their impact.
  • Prepare materials, talking points, and data summaries for regulatory and legislative meetings; report key takeaways and action items to leadership and the energy team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with electric and gas utility and regulatory contacts.
  • Co-own REP relationships and contract strategy for ERCOT territory; resolve service, billing, and other issues with electric, natural gas, water, and propane providers.
  • Oversee interconnection agreements, installation, operations, maintenance, and effectiveness of resiliency systems (generators, microgrids, solar, storage) across 400+ locations.
  • Lead design and rollout decisions for behind-the-meter generation, storage, and microgrid projects, including sizing and demand planning.
  • Build and deliver regular summaries, briefings, and training (including live sessions for facility and store managers) to keep the team updated on program status, incidents, and market developments.
  • Develop analyses to quantify the financial impact of energy opportunities, proposed solutions, and regulatory changes; track program success metrics.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to reduce cost and risk for power and natural gas while advancing corporate goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience, preferably in energy, utilities, facilities, or industrial operations, including direct experience with ERCOT or another energy market.
  • Recent graduates with relevant internships or project experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated project or program management experience, including budgeting, staffing, and vendor management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable building financial and market-impact analyses.
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, lead cross-functional teams, and manage multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Willingness to travel statewide and support occasional off-hours coordination during active weather or grid events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
