The Energy Asset Manager at Tesla plays a pivotal role in the success and optimization of the company’s expanding portfolio of commercial and utility-scale battery storage projects. This position serves as the main point of contact for owners of deployed Megapack projects and is responsible for overseeing the commercial and operational performance of these energy assets, ensuring they meet their intended objectives and deliver value to both customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a close relationship with the customers of our deployed Utility Scale battery storage energy and ensure positive customer sentiment
  • Facilitate, in coordination with other internal teams, monitor and challenge the operational performance and optimization metrics to achieve project’s highest possible availability and gross profit
  • Work closely with the onsite operations team to ensure safe and efficient operations of the asset
  • Manage and resolve legal, contractual, regulatory, and commercial issues as they arise
  • Negotiate contract amendments, renewals, etc. as needed
  • Monitor and influence all maintenance and operations for the assets based on fleet health, organizational priorities, and current fiscal relationship with end customer
  • Work with internal and external resources to develop strategies that streamline operations, reduce operational risk and ensure all obligations are met

Requirements

  • Intimate knowledge of energy and renewable markets, including current technologies, regulations, and trends
  • Experience with the operations and maintenance of Power Plant systems in sectors like solar, wind, thermal, coal, hydro, or nuclear
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience
  • Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, effective communication skills, and exceptional organizational skills, complemented by strong business acumen and a strategic approach with a commercial mindset
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently, research, and implement new knowledge effectively
  • Strong leadership abilities to inspire and influence action with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in service agreements, legal contracts, negotiations, and financial metrics analysis
