Schedule

  • On Call - Required, Sunday through Saturday
  • Scheduled Hours: 8 hours between 7am and 6pm, 32 hours per week
  • Shift: Day Shift, 8 Hours

This position performs a wide variety of duties in the Endoscopy Unit. You will assist clinical staff with procedures and maintain inventory and cleanliness of the Endoscopy Unit. You will also assist the Professional Nurse in ensuring the maintenance of principles and practices of endoscopic processes within the Endoscopy Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory supplies in each designated area and order supplies according to PAR levels, including an end-of-day review and inventory.
  • Reprocess Endoscopy instrumentation in CSR and pick up sterile equipment.
  • Reprocess endoscopes using the scope washer and document cycle results.
  • Apply knowledge of procedures by using and operating the correct equipment daily based on scheduled cases.
  • Set up equipment in areas outside Endoscopy (e.g., SCU, OR, ED).

Requirements

  • BLS Certification required, or obtained within 30 days from date of hire.
  • SGNA certification required within one year of date of hire or eight years of endoscopy experience.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift patients and move heavy objects by pushing or pulling.
  • Knowledge of basic computer usage.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and converse in clear and concise English, and to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and families, both verbally and in writing.
  • Normal clerical dexterity, typing skills, and basic medical terminology.
  • Well-organized with a high degree of manual dexterity.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: EMT or Critical Care Tech certification.
  • Preferred: Associate degree in a health care field.
  • Preferred: Coursework in Medical Terminology or health care-related education.
  • Preferred: Previous Endoscopy Unit experience.
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience working in a health care patient care support position with some direct patient care or clinical responsibilities.

Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility may be substituted for the above requirements.
