Endoscopy Technician
About the role
The Endoscopy Technician I (ET I) supports basic, diagnostic and/or therapeutic endoscopic procedures at various facilities, including rural, community, large, and trauma hospitals. This entry-level role involves performing a variety of procedures such as Colonoscopy, EGD, Tracheostomy/Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Placement, Enteroscopy, ERCP, FMT, food impaction removal, Bravo Capsule Placement, and EndoFLIP. Duties may include interventions like polypectomy, biopsy, dilation, cauterization, variceal banding, stent placement, overtube use, foreign body removal, and Hemospray application for GI bleeding.
Responsibilities
- Supports patient care for endoscopic procedures
- Assembles, prepares, and sets up equipment and supplies
- Maintains procedural safety by managing supplies and equipment
- Manages sharps and specimen safety
- Operates specialized equipment and mobile towers
- Assists with procedure room turnover
- Prepares equipment and supplies for emergent procedures
- Transports inpatients safely and efficiently
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous endoscopy and/or procedural experience preferred
- Physical requirements for manual dexterity, lifting, transferring, and navigating crowded spaces
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Preferred previous endoscopy and/or procedural experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
