Endodontist-Part-time (Riverside & San Diego County)

Role Overview and Purpose

The Endodontist (dental specialist) at Neighborhood Healthcare supports the mission and vision of improving the health and happiness of the communities we serve by providing quality care to all, regardless of situation or circumstance. This role involves performing endodontic procedures, diagnosing and treating complex causes of tooth pain, and providing health education.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care:

  • Develops and/or confirms individualized endodontic diagnosis and care plans based on dental conditions.
  • Reviews patients' medical history and discusses their symptoms and concerns.
  • Uses dental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause of oral pain and discomfort.
  • Provides appropriate endodontic dental care/services, ensuring compliance with standard of care.
  • Performs nonsurgical root canal treatment, apicoectomies, and retreatments.
  • Maintains teeth that have undergone root canal procedures.
  • Observes, assesses, and records patients' symptoms, reactions, and treatment progress.
  • Prescribes medications and provides patients with pertinent instructions.
  • Accommodates patients with urgent dental needs, including walk-ins.

• Team Support:

  • Leads the dental team to ensure smooth patient care and treatment coordination.
  • Facilitates prescription refills and paperwork completion.
  • Provides dental backup to NHC dental sites and clinicians.
  • Serves as a preceptor to dental and paraprofessional students.
  • Minimizes rescheduling of patients; provides instructions if necessary.
  • Completes and submits daily billing for accurate coding and charges.
  • Improves efficiency, patient flow, program development, and revenues.
  • Maintains necessary credentialing, licensure, and continuing education requirements.
  • Assists in employee evaluations for Dental PSRs or Dental Assistants.
  • Participates in audits, peer reviews, patient satisfactions, protocol developments, meetings, and in-service training.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience:

  • Doctorate degree in Dental Medicine (DMD) or Dental Surgery (DDS).
  • Completion of a post-doctoral residency program in endodontics.
  • Certification through the American Board of Endodontics (ABE) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Endodontist.
  • Valid CA Dental License required.
  • Current CA DEA licensure required and must be maintained.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source required upon hire.

• Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with principles and practices of modern dentistry and oral surgery.
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with dental terminology and dental science.
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with theories, methods, and procedures for the prevention of dental diseases and the required corrective treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of dental evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Knowledge of ethical, and legal standards for the delivery of dental care.
  • Knowledgeable of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aides and ability to prescribe dosage and instruct patients in correct usage.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized dental care plans for patients.
  • Ability to provide hands-on dental care in various settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Able to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Able to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift/carry 25 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

• Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices.

• Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury-free environment.
• Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
• Follow all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols.
• Maintain privacy of all patient, employee, and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes.
• Report all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful.

Pay Range

$84.66 - $137.00 per hour, depending on experience and additional qualifications. Compensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
