About the Role
The Endocrinology & Specialty Care Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders. The provider will collaborate with primary care providers and specialists to deliver individualized, evidence-based care while utilizing the latest clinical guidelines and technologies. The ideal candidate is passionate about chronic disease management, patient education, preventive medicine, and improving long-term health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Diabetes Management: Evaluate and manage patients with:
- Type 1 Diabetes
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Prediabetes
- Gestational Diabetes (when appropriate)
- Insulin Resistance
- Initiation and adjustment of insulin therapy
- Oral diabetic medication management
- GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy
- SGLT-2 inhibitor management
- Diabetes education
- Prevention of diabetic complications
- Individualized treatment planning
- Long-term disease management
- Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM): Manage and interpret continuous glucose monitoring systems, including:
- Dexcom
- FreeStyle Libre
- Other FDA-approved CGM devices
- CGM interpretation
- Glycemic trend analysis
- Medication adjustments
- Patient education
- Device troubleshooting
- Ongoing glucose management
- Insulin Pump Management: Evaluate and manage patients utilizing insulin pump therapy, including:
- Omnipod
- Tandem
- Medtronic
- Other FDA-approved insulin pump systems
- Pump initiation
- Basal and bolus adjustments
- Device education
- Troubleshooting
- Follow-up management
- Thyroid Disorders: Evaluate and manage patients with:
- Hypothyroidism
- Hyperthyroidism
- Hashimoto's Thyroiditis
- Graves' Disease
- Thyroid Nodules
- Thyroiditis
- Goiter
- Laboratory interpretation
- Medication management
- Thyroid hormone replacement therapy
- Imaging review
- Referral coordination when indicated
- Osteoporosis & Bone Health: Provide evaluation and treatment for:
- Osteoporosis
- Osteopenia
- Vitamin D Deficiency
- Calcium Disorders
- DEXA scan interpretation
- Fracture risk assessment
- Medication management
- Nutritional counseling
- Long-term monitoring
- Metabolic Disorders: Evaluate and manage patients with:
- Metabolic Syndrome

- Laboratory & Diagnostic Evaluation: Order, interpret, and manage:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)

- Thyroid Antibodies

- Additional endocrine laboratory testing as clinically indicated
- Patient Education: Provide education regarding:
- Diabetes self-management
- Nutrition

- Continuous glucose monitoring
- Prevention of disease complications
- Documentation:
- Complete accurate and timely Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation
- Maintain compliance with organizational, state, federal, and payer requirements
- Ensure appropriate coding and clinical documentation standards
Qualifications
Required:
- Active Nevada APRN License
- National Board Certification (FNP, AGNP, Adult NP, or Adult-Gerontology NP)
- Current DEA Registration (or eligibility to obtain)
- Current BLS Certification
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Preferred:
- Experience in Endocrinology
- Experience managing diabetes
- Experience interpreting Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) data
- Experience managing insulin pump therapy
- Familiarity with ADA, AACE, and Endocrine Society clinical practice guidelines
- Experience treating thyroid disorders and osteoporosis
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
