Endo Tech 6:30a-5:00p with call rotation

Responsibilities

• Functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and performs delegated functions such as planning, preparing and setting up for endoscopy cases.
• Anticipates the needs of the physician within the scope of their practice during endoscopy procedures.
• Performs direct patient care tasks such as phlebotomy, and unit functions appropriate to the position and in compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and procedures.
• Aids in the management of supplies and equipment in the department.
• Prepares for endoscopy procedures; transports patient as requested; anticipates procedure/patient needs; and assists in timely setup/turnover.
• Performs any ancillary testing and other duties including but not limited to: drawing blood, setting up oxygen, measuring I&O, performing point of care testing, obtaining height and weight, and vital signs.
• Communicates to the RN the patient responses to care provided in an accurate and timely manner.
• Affords assistance on assigned procedures; performs post procedure tasks and timely case breakdown, appropriate scope and equipment management and room/department cleanup.
• Decontaminates and processes endoscopy equipment and adheres to standards and policies around decontaminating and tracking endoscopes used in procedures.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Training as a surgical technologist is preferred.
• Previous work experience in job related positions such as medical assisting, nursing assistant, and previous endoscopy experience preferred.
• Nurse Aide certification or certification from acceptable hospital program.
• BLS required.
