Surrounded by ponds, lakes and rivers and nestled in the beautiful western foothills of Norway, ME, at Alan Day Community Garden we believe that everyone should have access to nutritious foods.

About the role

The VISTA will join our dynamic and hard-working organization as we expand access to our community food center and kitchen. They will need to be comfortable working with the public, friendly, welcoming and professional, organized and efficient, extremely adaptable and patient. The VISTA will enhance our existing programs while developing additional resources to meet the needs of families experiencing low income, developing knowledge and leadership among our youth and community members for growing and harvesting food, preparing meals, and serving the community.

Responsibilities

  • Alleviate food insecurity by building the capacity of ADCG’s existing programming while also developing additional programmatic resources as needed, including the development of communications and outreach systems to expand the reach of ADCG’s food access programming and leveraging our social media, newsletter and website to create and share a narrative for food security work at ADCG.
  • Facilitate welcoming gathering events onsite with volunteers, youth, and program participants in all aspects of increasing food security in our region.
  • Communicate, raise awareness, and develop program systems to expand the reach of ADCG’s food access programming.
  • Create and share a narrative for food security work at ADCG through monthly social media video updates, weekly social media posts, and updates to the food center and resources page on the ADCG website.
