Responsibilities
- Investigate and determine the service life of building enclosure assemblies.
- Audit enclosure systems and design repairs for existing enclosure systems.
- Perform enclosure reviews to assess air infiltration, rainwater control, heat transfer, and vapor transmission.
- Analyze building performance including daylighting, solar heat gain, thermal energy transfer, and holistic integration with building mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems.
- Develop a strong technical background in building façade and roofing assemblies, building science, and thermal analysis concepts.
- Model building performance and sustainability using various software tools.
- Evaluate and analyze proposed repair/design options.
- Create repair drawings and details.
- Create construction documents such as repair drawings and specifications.
- Observe construction and installation of repairs/designs in the field, including quality assurance testing.
- Prepare site visit reports and meeting minutes.
- Interact with project clients, sub-consultants, and repair contractors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering or Architecture in Building Science/Building Enclosures/ Historic Preservation; Master's degree preferred.
- Registered Architect or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- Experience in building enclosure design, repair, retrofit, and the integrated design and delivery of high-performance buildings.
- Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Computer Aided Drafting/Design (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper).
- Experience with building performance modeling software (Ecotect, Vasari, EnergyPlus, EQS, DesignBuilder, Diva, IES-VE, Therm, WUFI) is preferred.
- Familiarity with exterior wall systems, roofing assemblies, and building structural systems.
- Experience with working on suspended scaffolding and vertical heights.
