About the role
Grifols, a global leader in plasma‑derived medicines and transfusion medicine, is seeking Center Medical Specialists for its plasma donation centers. Positions are open to EMT‑Basic, EMT‑Advanced, Paramedic, LVN, or LPN candidates, and new graduates are welcome. The role involves performing donor medical examinations, providing education, managing donor injuries, and supporting staff health initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability.
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
- Maintain donor and staff confidentiality.
- Provide donor education on general health and counsel regarding unacceptable test results.
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events.
- Assess donor illness or medication histories to ensure continued suitability.
- Assist in employee training and administer the employee Hepatitis vaccine program.
Requirements
- Current education and certification/licensure in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Paramedic, or EMT.
- Current CPR certification.
Qualifications
- Ability to work both standing and sitting for 2–4 hours per day.
- Frequent neck bending/twisting (1–2 hours per day) and frequent hand movements with precise finger coordination.
- Occasional foot movement, squatting, crouching, or sitting on heels.
- Light lifting of up to 15 lb (maximum 50 lb) and reaching below shoulder height.
- Hearing acuity essential; color perception and vision correctable to 20/30 (one eye) and 20/100 (other eye).
- Effective verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions.
- Exposure to biological fluids, electrical equipment, and extreme cold (< 32 °F) in plasma freezers; use of required personal protective equipment.
