About the role

The Emergency Department Technician II is a non-professional, emergency medical technician who assists with the direct care of emergency department patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse and performs other essential non-direct patient duties. The ED Technician II performs EKGs, assists the physician with procedures/suturing, applies splints, performs wound care, takes vital signs and weights, collects specimens, performs CPR, and assists the nursing staff as delegated. The ED Technician additionally transports patients via wheelchair or gurney and provides safety and comfort for patients and their families.

The ED Technician II supervises the ED Certified Nurse Assistant and is responsible for twenty-four-hour coverage of ED Technicians in the Emergency Department, including completing a schedule with appropriate coverage. The ED Technician II mentors new hires and existing staff and contributes to the orientation process. The role requires effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with people at all levels and maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians. Fosters a supportive environment and promotes customer service by assisting with JFK's goals in obtaining 100 percent satisfaction rates among our most important constituents.

Requirements

• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintained at all times).
• Current EMT or EMT-P Certificate (maintained at all times).
• Two (2) years Emergency Technician Experience (Preferred).
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Spanish Speaking (Preferred).

Pay

$24.00 - $27.44 hourly. Individual wages are determined based upon qualifications and experience.
