EMT Paramedic (Resource)

Essential Job Duties

This position performs technical work driving an ambulance, rescuing and transporting the sick and injured, administering emergency medical care, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and does related work as required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• General knowledge of equipment and supplies employed in the emergency care of patients and victims of accidents
• Thorough knowledge of the street and road system and physical layout of the county
• Skills in diagnosing a victim's condition and applying emergency medical care
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, associates, patients and their families, other emergency service agencies, and the general public
• Ability to keep records and prepare reports

Education And Experience Requirements

• Step 1 - Minimum Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and three (3) additional job-related certifications
• Step 2 - High School Diploma or equivalent form an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and one (1) year of experience and four (4) additional job-related certifications OR Associate Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and four (4) additional job-related certifications
• Step 3 - High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and two (2) years of experience and five (5) additional job-related certifications OR Associate Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and one (1) year of experience and five (5) additional job-related certifications OR Bachelor’s Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and two (2) years of experience and five (5) additional job-related certifications OR Master’s Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and five (5) additional job-related certifications
• Step 4 (Paramedic First Class) - High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and three (3) years of experience and (6) job-related certifications OR Associate Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and two (2) years of experience and (6) job-related certifications OR Bachelor’s Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and one (1) year of experience and (6) job-related certifications OR Master’s Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and (6) job-related certifications
• Step 5 (Paramedic First Class) - High School Diploma or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and four (4) years of experience and (7) job-related certifications OR Associate Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and three (3) years of experience and (7) job-related certifications OR Bachelor’s Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and two (2) years of experience and (7) job-related certifications OR Master’s Degree from an appropriately accredited institution and Paramedic Certification and one (1) year of experience and (7) job-related certifications AND National Registry EMT-Paramedic OR Critical Care Paramedic EMT Paramedic OR 2 Professional Development Certifications

Licenses, Certifications, And Other Special Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug screenings.
• Must pass post offer physical agility testing.
• This position is not eligible for benefits.
