Responsibilities
- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Avoid history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Aid in the administration of the Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
- Currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification required
Qualifications
- Work involves standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day, bending and twisting of neck up to 1 to 2 hours per day, frequent hand movement, precise coordinated movements, reaching below shoulder height, frequent foot movement, occasional light lifting, and exposure to biological fluids and extreme cold.
- Must have hearing acuity essential, color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable to 20/30 and 20/100 in one eye, and the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups.
