As our EMT, you will perform essential general patient care
- meticulously following established clinic workflows to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery within an outpatient setting.
- Completing comprehensive patient intake duties, including obtaining vital signs, verifying allergies and medications, and documenting reasons for visits.
- Collecting and preparing specimens, administering ordered medications and vaccines, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, ensuring exam room readiness, and meticulously completing safety checklists, escalating any non-routine issues promptly.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, efficiency, and safety
- Adaptively managing all intake processes and supporting clinical operations.
- Meticulously following protocols, maintaining a clean and stocked environment, and proactively addressing concerns.
Personal, crew, patient and bystanders safety
- Perform scene size up, ensuring safety for self and others during emergency scenes.
Patient Assessment and delivery of care
- Providing patient care functions according to protocol, procedure, and written directives to level of certification.
- Performing a patient assessment throughout a call on every patient encountered, providing appropriate treatment and transportation decisions.
Maintain and improve skill level and knowledge base
- Attending 75% of annual departmental training and completing annual Skills Competency Fair.
Transport and Transfer of Care
- Verifying patient identification prior to transport, contacting receiving facility prior to delivery, and providing a patient care report.
- Ensuring safe delivery to or from the hospital and aircraft.
- Transferring the patient to the appropriate facility and health care provider, giving a complete/accurate verbal patient care report.
- Assuring geographic knowledge of service area (communities, towns, cities and counties), utilizing appropriate map/GPS reading skills.
Record keeping and data collection
- Neatly and accurately completing written and electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCR), leaving a copy of the transported patient's report in every facility - ED.
Patient Advocacy
- Aiding patients with special concerns that need to be brought to hospital personnel's attention (e.g., geriatric patient who may require additional home care).
Qualifications
- High School GED or High School Graduate
- Driver's License: TX, upon hire
- Emergency Medical Technician: TX, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
