Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current North Carolina EMT credential.
  • Minimum of at least one year of experience as an EMT is preferred.
  • Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of North Carolina.
  • Minimum of three years' driving experience for personnel operating a CarolinaEast owned ambulance.
  • Ability to drive an ambulance safely and efficiently.
  • Successful completion of Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD) course within one year of hire.
  • Maintenance of EVD certification; required EVD refresher course every two years.
  • Current AHA BLS and PHTLS required.
  • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Ability to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed, as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize clerical responsibilities, maintain workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize computer systems and programs.
  • Ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence.
