About the role
The incumbent in this PRN (as-needed) position performs skilled emergency medical services, including patient assessment, stabilization, treatment, and transport in a prehospital environment. Duties align with SDEMS treatment guidelines, policies, and the individual's certification level. The role may also involve public education and representing Santo Domingo Emergency Medical Services (SDEMS) professionally and with cultural respect.
Responsibilities
- Perform emergency medical services, including patient assessment, stabilization, treatment, and transport.
- Adhere to SDEMS treatment guidelines and policies based on certification level.
- Provide public education as needed.
- Represent SDEMS in a professional and culturally respectful manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Current and valid New Mexico EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, or Paramedic license.
- Minimum of one (1) year of EMS field experience preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, and other certifications required based on certification level.
- Must satisfactorily complete SDEMS written and scenario-based testing.
- Knowledge of medical terminology with the ability to translate it into simple explanations for community members.
- Experience working with tribal communities and cultural sensitivity preferred.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Must pass a background check and new hire drug screening.
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license with ability to meet Santo Domingo Pueblo’s liability insurance requirements.

Pay
Salary is based on licensure level and experience.
