About the role
The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
Responsibilities
- Coordinates medically related transfers of patients from sending to receiving facilities based on triage information received about the patient.
- Operates computer terminal to input patient information, vehicle status, and crew assignments.
- Gathers and records information related to the level of care actually required during transfer (based on patient's medical condition).
- Dispatches appropriate resources to complete patient transfers in the most cost-effective manner that ensures appropriate level of care enroute.
- Collections information related to vehicle maintenance, repair costs, outside vendor utilization, and other operational statistical data as required.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
Requirements
- Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic by the Texas Department of Health.

Work Environment
Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
