About the role

The Employment Specialist assists consumers in finding employment, job trainings, and educational programs aligned with their career goals. They mentor and support clients by providing skill-based instruction, encouraging growth through various activities, and preparing them for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support clients through skill-based instruction and positive behavioral strategies.
  • Provide systematic instruction, interview preparation, job training, follow-along supports, discovery activities, volunteer work, internships, travel training, and civic involvement.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with businesses to hire and promote individuals with disabilities, including creating internship sites and collaborating with companies to accommodate employees with barriers to employment.
  • Communicate effectively and apply critical thinking skills to support clients and corporate decision-makers.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation, or related field.
  • One to two years of experience in supported employment services or one year of experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse group of individuals, including clients, colleagues, and corporate decision-makers.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Effective time management, attentiveness, problem-solving abilities, reliability, adaptability, attention to details, effective decision-making, and prompt response times to deadlines/documentation.
  • Team player and proactive mentality.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred.

Qualifications
