About the role

The Employment Specialist acts as the inside sales person in an Express office, serving as the link between client companies and associates. This role involves taking job orders, assigning associates, and ensuring client satisfaction. The specialist is also responsible for retaining qualified associates and increasing sales through daily telephone sales calls. Ideal candidates will exercise discretionary judgment in recruiting, hiring, and assigning associates within the franchise territory.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and Employment
    • Develop and maintain recruiting sources to ensure consistent applicant flow.
    • Conduct job interviews, administer and score tests, and evaluate applicant skills, abilities, and availability.
    • Verify professional/personal references, employment history, degrees, certifications, and qualifications.
    • Determine applicant suitability and complete the employment process, including orientations about Express policies, procedures, compensation, benefits, and the employer/employee relationship.
    • Assign associates to client accounts, providing details about location, reporting structure, working conditions, job functions, schedule, pay rate, and other pertinent information.
    • Ensure reasonable accommodations for individuals with limitations during the employment process and at client work sites.
  • Client Relations
    • Conduct daily sales and service calls to existing and potential clients to identify and solve problems, and stimulate business opportunities.
    • Analyze client operations and present staffing strategies tailored to their needs.
    • Receive job orders and ascertain essential job function requirements, FLSA exemption status, and assignment details.
    • Periodically tour client facilities to observe working conditions, safety issues, production requirements, legal posters, and Material Safety Data Sheets.
    • Determine basic OSHA compliance and investigate accidents.
    • Advise clients on bill rates, employment laws, co-employment practices, and effective employee relations.
  • Employee Relations
    • Gather associate work performance data from clients in accordance with Express quality assurance procedures.
    • Monitor and record associate performance, providing necessary feedback.
    • Provide associate counseling and appropriate disciplinary action to correct performance problems.
    • Terminate unsatisfactory associates.
    • Receive, investigate, and process associate complaints and allegations of discrimination, harassment, and other work site problems.
  • Administration
    • Apply Express policies and procedures to resolve time card errors and client billing discrepancies, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of paychecks and invoices.
    • Maintain client goodwill and assist in collecting delinquent accounts, including negotiating payments with client decision-makers.
  • Sales
    • Spend a portion of each day making outbound telephone sales calls to fill client needs and provide assignments for quality associates.
  • Supervisor Responsibility
    • Provide administrative supervision of up to 150 Express associates.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field suggested, or equivalent education and experience in business, sales, customer service, or public relations.

Skills

  • Understanding of general business, office terminology, and basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Primary activities conducted within a well-lit, climate-controlled office.
  • Occasional trips to client locations requiring travel and potential exposure to unpleasant weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and maintain normal range of body motion.
  • Must work effectively under the stress of multiple daily deadlines and commitments.
  • Occasional out-of-town trips may be required for special events and training sessions.
  • Work hours: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday – Friday, plus a rotating on-call schedule.

Pay

Base pay: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year, plus monthly commissions and incentives. Income potential exceeds $60,000 in the first year with unlimited potential thereafter.
