About the role

AbleLight pioneers life-changing services that empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to thrive. The Employment Specialist is a key team member of our supported employment mission, responsible for building a pipeline of business and clientele, serving as a job coach, and ensuring proper documentation and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and maintain positive community and business relationships to find gainful employment and advancement opportunities that provide meaningful experiences.
  • Identify and secure new clients to receive employment services through AbleLight by forming strategic partnerships with school districts to develop and implement pre-employment transition services.
  • Maintain open communication with employers to identify areas of success and opportunity, partnering to remove employment barriers and resolve issues related to community integration and independence for people with disabilities.
  • Coordinate with school districts and colleges to develop and promote pre-employment transition services, building a pipeline of clients.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with the vocational rehabilitation division and other funding and referral sources.
  • Ensure timely and thorough program and case documentation.
  • Follow licensing regulations, agency policies, best practices, and protection of individual rights.
  • Observe, evaluate, and record job performance to make recommendations concerning goals and objectives.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience.
  • Two years of relevant experience with 6 months of IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Pay

$19.50–$23 per hour.
