Employment Practices Counsel

Responsibilities

  • Consulting with management on policy interpretation and compliance issues including but not limited to performance management, disciplinary processes, legal inquiries, and general employment law
  • Serving as escalation support and liaison between field management and Deputy General Counsel
  • Delivering training for supervisors, managers, and HR staff on topics to include: Corporate Policies, investigations, maintaining positive employment practices, and various employment law topics including but not limited to the ADAAA, FMLA, ADEA, and Title VII
  • Working collaboratively with Labor Relations Counsel and field operations on the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements
  • Conducting employment practices audits and investigations at field locations as directed and providing a written summary of audits with recommendations and next steps provided to location management and executives
  • Using preventative measures such as proactive involvement, early identification, and resolution of potential issues/disputes to manage and minimize risk and to increase the effectiveness of services

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Admitted to a state bar
  • Minimum 2 years full-time relevant legal experience
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel extensively and on short notice
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Doctorate Degree (over 19 years)
