About the role
Responsible for developing, coordinating, and enhancing the facility's employment assistance/placement program by ongoing and documented efforts to assist each program resident in securing and maintaining gainful employment.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all agency policies and applicable procedures.
- Conduct initial assessment of resident employment status, needs, aptitudes, and resources, including testing.
- Coordinate and implement job preparation strategies as needed, including counseling and referrals.
- Verify resident employment, both on-site and by phone, on a continued basis.
- Complete and document all residence requirements, including home confinement and/or electronic monitoring, on-site.
- Ensure timely subsistence collection and documentation.
- If serving as vocational counselor to female residents:
- Assist each program resident in obtaining gainful employment and/or appropriate educational/vocational training.
- Meet with each resident individually at least once each week to discuss vocational plans and assess progress.
- Assist female residents in developing a weekly schedule and meeting outlined obligations; approve and monitor the schedule.
- Help residents develop and use a monthly budget; monitor the budget alongside the resident.
- Coordinate and maintain accurate client records, reports, statistics, and schedules.
- Use and maintain timely recordkeeping in the FreshStart Case Management System.
- Attend and participate in all required meetings.
- Actively develop and maintain local private sector and public agency resources for job development, training, and related services.
- Maintain close and effective working communication with program staff, supervising authorities, other agencies, and community groups, especially regarding employment matters.
- Communicate all relevant information to supervisory staff regarding residents, facility, and agency.
- Provide Staff Duty Coverage as scheduled; work all necessary hours to staff the center in the event of a work stoppage.
- Perform all other work duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year of academic studies at an accredited college or university.
- Experience in job development and knowledge of the local area, area employers, and community resources.
- Personal computer (PC) work experience using current versions of the Windows operating system.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Word and Excel applications.
- Understanding of basic PC concepts (files, file paths, copying and pasting, deleting, and moving files) and operation of common office machinery.
- Good typing, spelling, grammar, organizational, and phone skills.
Pay
$23.34 per hour
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Variable as needed, Monday - Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM.
