About the role
As a Risk Advisor you will drive new insurance account production and sales within assigned accounts. You will research the market, develop a client base, educate and sell insurance services, and maintain a profitable book of business for existing clients while projecting a professional company image in every interaction.
Responsibilities
- Achieve annual new revenue objectives through consultative sales to new clients and expansion of service lines to existing clients.
- Exhibit thought leadership and industry engagement via associations, speaking panels, and demonstrated expertise in selected industry verticals.
- Develop an annual individual sales plan (ISP) with a pipeline coverage ratio of 5X or one that aligns with current company metrics to ensure stated goals are consistently met.
- Build an active pipeline of qualified prospects, generating leads from personal contacts, client referrals, prospect pursuit campaigns (PPCs), Relation colleagues, and Relation marketing sources.
- Document new business activity in the appropriate system(s).
- Appropriately close new business, documenting won/loss opportunities and reasons for all clients in the system in place at that time.
- Develop and present recommendations to clients based on a consultative selling approach.
- Assess and identify risk issues, needs, and possible uninsurable or difficult-to-insure exposures for clients.
- Recommend and assist clients with technical services including loss control and claims advocacy programs utilizing in-house teams.
- Seamlessly transition sold clients to the designated client service/account management team.
- Serve as the client’s valued advisor, building strategic and personal relationships with key client decision-makers.
- Communicate with leadership, providing field input on market trends, competitor analysis, and other business intelligence.
- Perform other projects, duties, and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- A Life and Health License from the state of domicile is required and must be maintained.
- A minimum of 2+ years of sales experience in the insurance industry with a focus on Employee Benefits coverage is required.
- College degree preferred; preference given to individuals with experience in Risk Management.
- Strong networking and strategic vision of relationship building and utilization of Centers of Influence (COI).
- Excellent PowerPoint and presentation skills for both in-person and teleconference/webinar sessions.
- In-depth understanding of complex employee benefits lines of coverage.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, underwriters, vendors, and others.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
- Strong working knowledge of insurance markets, products, and usages, as well as insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to travel to client sites, and a reliable source of transportation.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
- Ability to work independently and on a team.

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000.00 - $250,000.00. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
