Responsibilities
- 30% Small Group Marketing: Markets groups to carriers and prepares a formal renewal presentation. Manages renewal time-line and renewal process. Works with clients and producers for the purpose of gathering marketing data. Seeking opportunities for potential up selling of accounts. Coordinating with marketing lead when applicable. Sends groups to several markets for pricing and product comparison. Obtains online quotes from carrier websites, when applicable. Negotiates client renewals with carriers based on competitive information. Prepares formal proposal for Producers to deliver to customers.
- 30% Insurance Knowledge: Knows coverage for various Employee Benefits lines of business and is capable of researching various resources to gain more knowledge. Applies this to all other areas of responsibility.
- 20% Relationships and Renewal Marketing: Assists with or collects data needed to market existing Employee Benefit accounts. Develops quality submissions to carriers for appropriate types of coverage. Submits information to insurance carriers and negotiates premiums and coverage in a timely manner. Negotiates with carrier personnel and underwriters to develop the most attractive proposal for our prospects. Reviews quotes, prepares spreadsheets, and additional content specific to prospect size and situation. Interacts regularly to build relationships with carrier personnel; this includes, managing phone calls and emails in a timely manner and attending off-site meetings as scheduled for relationship building and product knowledge. Prepares formal proposals and communicates to Sales Producers.
- 10% Teamwork: Works together with team and with other departments, such as Sales Producers, Account Managers, etc. Plans and discusses the execution of strategies. Meets deadlines set forth by Producers. Volunteers to back up and/or assist other as needed. Manages PTO with departmental needs. Special projects as assigned by Director of Employee Benefits.
- 10% Determination: Displays commitment and initiative to meet department and agency education goals as set forth in the organization’s education program.
Requirements
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of Database Software; Spreadsheet Software; Word Processing Software; Internet software and Design Software.
- Education and/or Experience: At least six years related experience and/or training, preferably handling group health plans or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications: Must hold applicable state insurance license or have the ability to obtain such within 90 days of employment. Must be able to obtain insurance designations as set forth by the organization’s education plan.
