About the role
The Firm is seeking a motivated attorney with 3+ years of experience to join its growing Employee Benefits/ERISA team. Ideal candidates will have significant experience advising employers on employee benefits matters, including the design, implementation, and compliance of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans (including Employee Stock Ownership Plans) and executive compensation arrangements. Familiarity with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code is essential. Experience in ESOP transactions and representing clients in IRS audits and DOL investigations is also valued.
Responsibilities
- Advising employers on the design, implementation, and compliance of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans (including Employee Stock Ownership Plans)
- Providing legal advice on executive compensation arrangements
- Representing clients in IRS audits and DOL investigations
- Drafting plan documents, amendments, summary plan descriptions, and related agreements
- Maintaining strong interpersonal skills and being highly organized
- Managing multiple client matters simultaneously
Requirements
- Significant experience advising employers on employee benefits matters
- Familiarity with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code
- Experience in ESOP transactions
- Strong drafting skills for plan documents, amendments, summary plan descriptions, and related agreements
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in Iowa
- 3+ years of relevant experience
