About the role
The Employee Benefits Assistant Account Manager supports colleagues, clients, and carriers in the EB department. Key responsibilities include maintaining service and sales standards, facilitating claims, billing, and eligibility resolutions, and coordinating plan installations.
Responsibilities
- Enter new client and update existing client information in CRM
- Keep client files updated with current information for both clients and carriers
- Communicate with clients, colleagues, and carriers; resolve claims, billing, and eligibility issues; refer to Producer/Account Manager/Account Executive as needed
- Aid in life transitions such as employees approaching Medicare, dependents aging out of coverage, and COBRA eligibility
- Gather client census data, renewal plan design and rate information, historical claims experience data, and other required materials for RFP preparation
- Analyze market proposals to verify benefits, premium rates, and competitiveness
- Prepare and coordinate materials for the enrollment process and other formal client presentations
- Collaborate with carriers and software representatives to coordinate activities for new plan implementations
- Coordinate plan installations with insurance carriers and participate in installation/enrollment meetings
- Handle requests for individual insurance, including life, disability, and medical; transfer accounts to the small group team as necessary
- Maintain service to individual life insurance customers and manage life insurance files
- Distribute/scan department mail to the appropriate team member
- Refer current and prospective clients to the Commercial and Personal Lines Departments for solicitation of those lines of business
- Engage with prospects, customers, colleagues, and carriers in a way that avoids errors and omissions
- Attend seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and stay current on legislative changes
Requirements
- An agent's license or ability to quickly obtain one
- Previous insurance employee benefits experience, and insurance/HR industry designations preferred
- A 4-year degree preferred

- Intermediate PC skills, focusing on the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
- Organized and analytical with a strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated, able to prioritize and be self-directed
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact with colleagues and managers at all levels
- Willingness to foster a team environment and find accommodating solutions for customers, companies, and the Agency
- Ability to adhere to company policies and maintain strict confidentiality
