About the role

The Associate Optometrist is a leader in the organization, delivering the brand promise and key results through collaboration and teamwork. This role ensures all patients receive the highest quality optometric care by performing clinical protocols while maximizing practice growth through strong partnerships with the Managing Optician of the Day (MOD), Store Market Manager (SMM), and the team. The Associate Optometrist supports the organization with medical practice, referral care, and pre/post-op surgical support (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures executional excellence and winning results in partnership with the MOD and store team.
  • Demonstrates commitment to exceed results through strong competency in KPI management and high accountability.
  • Ensures LensCrafters is recognized as a medical eyecare provider within the community.
  • Operates as a successful stakeholder to all leaders within the organization and local market.
  • Places the patient/customer first and delivers excellent service.
  • Strives to exceed expectations on all KPIs.
  • Conveys a commitment to providing unsurpassed patient service by ensuring staff performs service process steps, including:
    • Making eyewear recommendations based on patients'/customers’ needs.
    • Explaining each step of the eye exam and listening carefully to patients/customers.
    • Utilizing available tools and visual aids to summarize and ensure patients understand their vision, eye health, and overall well-being.
    • Communicating the need for annual eye exams and ensuring patients are scheduled for their next exam.
  • Addresses all patient/customer visual lifestyle needs, including medical and surgical recommendations (if applicable).
  • Conducts services in line with protocol and standards of care; establishes doctor/patient relationships.
  • Ensures all patients receive accurate diagnosis and appropriate recommendations.
  • Establishes a positive doctor/patient relationship.
  • Utilizes and leverages all technology to deliver unsurpassed patient/customer experiences.
  • Maintains state licensure in good standing and practices to the full scope of that license; responsible for maintaining continuing education requirements.
  • Provides effective training and guidance to team members using company-provided programs.
  • Delivers clear, motivating, and constructive feedback in a timely manner to all associates.
  • Creates a positive culture linked to corporate values; identifies what motivates each individual and directs conversations and actions appropriately.
  • Encourages associate decision-making at the level closest to the patient.
  • Maximizes partnerships through leadership, participation, and involvement.
  • Takes pride in the appearance of the office.
  • Maintains a safe working environment for all associates and patients.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry degree.
  • Commitment to quality patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical optometry, including billing and coding.
  • Knowledge of surgical care and practices pertaining to optometry.
  • Knowledge of current optometric theory and technology.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Solid organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Residency trained.
  • Medical care experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of surgical care and practices pertaining to optometry.
