Emission Observer/Technician

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Observes and records the opacity of emissions from the coking making process in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Enters data into a database.
• Communicates observations to operations, supervisors, and client contacts.
• Works in a heavy industrial environment with strict safety requirements.
• May work outdoors and requires walking, climbing steps, acclimation to heat and cold.
• Available to work 5-days per week, which may include Saturdays and Sundays.
• Shifts may be longer than 8-hours per day, requiring overtime if delays occur.
• Must be able to obtain necessary medical clearances to wear a respirator.
• Works with on-site Client managers to address water requirements and manage respective facilities' water permits.
• Inputs and evaluates air monitoring results using Microsoft Access and other computer programs.
• Knowledge of Air Permitting, Stack Testing, and monitoring associated with air permits is desired.
• Enters and manages NPDES (water permit) data using the client database system.
• Enters data and generates reports for clients and uses an early warning notification system for data out of range.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Some experience in a related position or industrial environment preferred.
• Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions).
• Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must demonstrate ability to work and communicate in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
• Computer skills including Microsoft and Google programs are required.
• Must obtain (or have) a Method 9 certification within a designated time frame.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
