Emily Holmquist Professor or Scholar in Pediatric Oncology Nursing
Position Details
Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) established its first endowed professorship in 1996 in honor of the first dean, Emily Holmquist. This professorship focuses on pediatric oncology nursing—an area that builds on the existing strengths of the school and its long history of close association with the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
Position Summary
IUSON is seeking exceptional candidates for the Emily Holmquist Professor or Scholar in Pediatric Oncology Nursing. Overall, the candidate’s responsibilities include contributing to IUSON’s research, teaching, and service missions. Specifically:
- Contribute to nationally and/or internationally disseminated and peer reviewed scholarship in pediatric oncology nursing. For appointment to Associate Professor, evidence of an emerging national reputation is required. For appointment to Full Professor, evidence of a sustained national reputation is required.
- Work with interdisciplinary teams of interprofessional researchers across clinical and academic settings.
- Engage in high-quality teaching and mentoring. Create inclusive learning spaces and prepare graduates to lead in an increasingly complex world. Serve as a mentor and role model for students and faculty colleagues.
- Participate in service at the school, campus, community, and professional levels.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD is required. A PhD in Nursing Science is preferred, but candidates with a PhD in a related field (e.g., public health, health sciences, psychology, sociology, education) will be considered if they hold a master’s degree or equivalent in nursing.
- Expertise in pediatric oncology nursing is required.
- The successful applicant will have a record of scholarly achievement, including a history of success suitable for appointment as an Associate or Full Professor.
- The ability to work with interdisciplinary teams of interprofessional researchers across clinical and academic settings and possess interpersonal skills necessary to serve as a mentor and a role model for students and faculty colleagues are essential.
- Licensed or eligible for Indiana RN licensure is required.
