About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Fellow Drug Substance Biotherapeutics to join our team. This role is part of the R&D Product Development function, focusing on innovative medicine and medical technology.

Responsibilities

• Scout and benchmark new technologies and advancements in biotherapeutic drug substance manufacturing
• Identify, pursue, and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, including academic, government, and commercial entities
• Guide and mentor the Emerging Technologies organization, ensuring the best solutions are tested and adopted
• Closely collaborate with laboratory and pilot-scale execution of studies to develop new technologies and innovations

Qualifications

• Minimum of a BA/BS or PhD in a technical field related to pharmaceutical manufacturing, such as Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or a similar quantitative scientific field
• Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with a focus on biotherapeutic or parenteral drug substance processes and associated unit operations
• Outstanding track record of delivering meaningful solutions and strategic directions for next-generation pharmaceutical manufacturing in biotherapeutics
• Significant expertise in scientific communication, including authoring documents and presenting quantitative information
• A sound grasp of Quality by Design principles and Pharmaceutical Real-time Release testing
• Familiarity with manufacturing cGMPs, Systems Qualification, Process Validations, process sciences, Tech Transfers, QbD, advanced analytical technology, PAT, Continuous Manufacturing, Modular Manufacturing
• A history of external influencing scientific fields through white papers, presentations, publications in relevant fields, and a strong network in academia and industry
