About the role

VEGIn 2014, VEG was founded with a mission to provide exceptional emergency care for both people and their pets. Since then, VEG has grown to offer 24/7, 365-day-a-year emergency services across multiple locations, enhancing the overall emergency experience for everyone involved.

Responsibilities

  • Answer medical questions over the phone
  • See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our unique, customer-centered approach
  • Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam
  • Conduct physical examinations and other required investigative measures such as ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies
  • Create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan for each pet's condition
  • Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers
  • Prepare estimates and present them to customers
  • Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy
  • Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
  • Perform endoscopic procedures
  • Provide education on aftercare and preventative measures to customers

Requirements

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
  • Passion for emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy
  • Experience thriving in team-oriented environments
  • Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as lift up to 25 kg independently and assist with lifting up to 40 kg
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
  • Empathy and a people-centric approach
  • Humility and a sense of ownership over work
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn and grow
