Summary

Provides emergent/urgent patient care under the direction of a physician, physician's assistant, and/or registered nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical procedures as delegated, including establishing IV access, collecting specimens, providing wound care, and transporting patients.
  • May perform ECGs and vital statistics/telemetry monitoring.
  • Affords assistance to physicians and nurses with performing medical procedures, including examinations, minor surgical interventions, orthopedic treatment, and resuscitation.
  • Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to medical/nursing staff.
  • Affords assistance with patient flow and keeps patient rooms clean, stocked, and orderly.

Requirements

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider and any relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
  • Current State Licensure as an EMT-P.
  • Additional certifications as defined by position level requirements.
