Responsibilities
- Able to follow and be familiar with hospital policies and procedures
- Practice within acceptable ethical and legal parameters and demonstrate an awareness and sensitivity of confidential information
- Adheres to LCMCs customer service standards to promote a positive and professional relationship with our customers who include patients, family members, visitors, medical staff and hospital staff
- Work as a team member
- Able to work varying shifts, rotate days off and work weekends
- Able to relate to and work with ill and disabled patients of all types with varying medical and mental conditions
- Able to read, write and speak English in an understandable manner
- Able to write legibly
- Able to use competent computer skills including email, Microsoft, LCMC computer applications and EMR
- Possess visual and hearing acuity
- Able to deal with high stress and high demand work environment and cope with unpredictable situations tactfully and professionally
- Be able to recognize, prioritize and address changing patient needs
- Maintains constant communication with RN regarding patient care, treatment and changes in condition
- Absists patients with toileting and any other ADLs and comfort needs
- Maintains par levels in all patient care levels and re-stocks when needed
- Orders labs, x-rays, answers phones, assist with the start of the triage process through information and vital sign gathering
- Absists RN with keeping charts and paperwork orderly
- Absists RN with any patient care needs
- Provides monitoring of patients when being taken to ancillary areas for testing or being taken to be admitted to nursing floor, as directed by RN
- Keeps all areas of ED clean and organized
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program (CNA/LNA) or an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program
- Computer Skills: Moderate computer skills with the ability to utilize an EMR
- Experience: 6 months direct patient care (pre-hospital or hospital)
- Licenses: Active, current EMT or LNA/CNA license or certification
- Certifications: BLS required
