Job Summary
The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards and policies. They are expected to uphold the Medical Center’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan and demonstrate flexibility and quality in their work.
Essential Responsibilities
Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately, and demonstrates accountability.
Understands the scope of practice and escalates issues as necessary. Demonstrates professional and supportive behavior.

Collaborates with other departments to assist with member problem resolution.

Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care that reflects assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the outcomes of that plan.
Maintains and protects patient confidentiality, ensures a clean, orderly, and functional work environment, and treats all families with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion.
Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members and taking responsibility for meeting those needs.
Ensures patient safety related to medications and procedures, utilizes the five rights, prevents patient falls, decubitus ulcers, and nosocomial infections, ensures optimal pain control and patient comfort, and discusses patient anxieties, fears, or concerns.
Ensures patient understands discharge instructions and medication purposes, side effects, and administration instructions.
Participates in problem identification and resolution, prioritizes, delegates, and supervises work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of patient care activities.
Participates in unit-based teams, attends mandatory meetings, in-services, and staff meetings, actively participates in professional development, and keeps self-informed of unit activities.
Adheres to attendance program, reports to assigned area promptly, and supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment.
Organizes work to minimize the use of overtime, identifies and assists in systems improvement, and utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.
Experience
Minimum six (6) months recent (within last 5 years) full-time equivalent experience in ED or Critical Care.
Successful completion of a KP ED training program or approved equivalent within the past 12 months.
