Responsibilities
- Develop and implement service programs by assessing patient needs, setting goals, and outlining interventions to ensure quality nursing and patient care.
- Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate patients' physical, mental, and emotional health, including medical history, physical exams, and interviews with patients and families.
- Develop individualized care plans by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, performing medical procedures as prescribed.
- Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes to adjust care plans and improve service programs based on data and feedback.
- Educate and train nursing staff on new service programs, protocols, and best practices to maintain high standards of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure clear understanding and coordination of care plans.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies by adhering to established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement activities by identifying areas for improvement, implementing changes, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in electronic medical records, ensuring timely and precise entries.
- Adhere to professional standards by following established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, while engaging in ongoing professional development.
- Supervise and guide nursing personnel in delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care, maintaining a professional rapport with all team members.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of hospital policies, procedures, and legal aspects of acute care nursing
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Basic computer skills, including experience with an Electronic Health Record
- Cerner documentation
- Collaborates effectively with management, nurse leadership, and ancillary department staff to refine departmental goals, resolve patient care problems, and integrate nursing within the healthcare delivery system
- Demonstrates clear and concise communication about patient care to healthcare team members and collaborates with physicians concerning patient care
- Empowers and supports staff in educational endeavors for career growth and participates in clinical collaboration, preceptorship programs, and professional development planning
- Exhibits leadership qualities consistent with organizational philosophy and goals, including modeling critical thinking skills, serving as a resource for employees, and demonstrating dependability and punctuality
- Demonstrates knowledge of state and federal regulations, updating departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance, supervising unit personnel, and managing budget and resources efficiently
- Demonstrates excellent prioritization, time management, and takes corrective actions in line with hospital policies, including risk management activities
Qualifications
- Associate's of Nursing
- Bachelor's of Nursing (Preferred)
Skills
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations
- Experience with Cerner documentation
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) (Preferred)
- Registered Nurse (RN) (Required)
