About the role
The Emergency Response Support Professional is a key member of a mobile crisis response team, providing immediate, compassionate, and person-centered support to individuals and families experiencing substance use, mental health, or co-occurring crises.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency and pre-emergency calls as part of a mobile crisis response team
- Provide on-site support during crises, including overdoses, relapses, and mental health emergencies
- Deliver calm, compassionate, and non-judgmental support to individuals and families
- Offer emotional support, encouragement, and hope grounded in recovery principles
- Aid individuals and families in understanding substance use, mental health challenges, and recovery pathways
- Navigate crisis situations and access help for families and loved ones
- Connect individuals to community resources, including treatment programs, support groups, housing, and healthcare services
- Collaborate with the Orange County Crisis Call Center and Mobile Response Team for additional support when needed
- Provide education on harm reduction strategies and safety planning
- Advocate for individuals' rights, preferences, and access to services
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and referral options
- Complete accurate and timely documentation following each response
- Participate in trainings, team meetings, and continuing education opportunities
Requirements
- Have a degree in Masters of Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Occupational Therapy or a Registered Nurse
- Have or be willing to earn NYCPS or CPRA certification within your first year
- Know or be willing to learn about community resources, including addiction services, transportation, support groups, and more
- Have strong communication skills, good time management, and can work independently
- Have an unrestricted valid driver’s license
- Understand or be eager to learn about wellness and recovery principles, crisis interventions, and suicide prevention
- Be comfortable working in the community, including entering homes or working alongside first responders when needed
- Be organized, self-motivated, and can manage your time, even during slower shifts
- Have computer skills and be able to complete documentation clearly and on time
- Have a working knowledge of the recovery process and be willing to promote multi-pathways to recovery
Qualifications
- If a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (LPHA), this includes: Licensed Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW); Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC); Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); Licensed Creative Arts Therapists; Licensed Occupational Therapist; or Registered Nurse preferred
- If bilingual in English and Spanish, strongly preferred
- Understand what it feels like to be in crisis and can offer judgment-free, compassionate support
- Believe there are many paths to healing and are open to different recovery approaches
- A good listener, a strong communicator, and someone who can stay calm under pressure

Pay
- $27.88/hr (UNLICENSED PROFESSIONAL)
- $31.25/hr (LICENSED PROFESSIONAL)
Schedule
- Part time schedule to include one weekend day
