About the role

VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center (AVCC) is a multi-specialty referral and emergency veterinary hospital serving pet owners and referring veterinarians throughout Southern California. Our practice is located in Lawndale, California - “the heart of the south bay”. We are seeking an experienced relief Emergency Veterinarian to join our busy Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and high-quality emergency care to a variety of animal species.
  • Collaborate with board-certified specialists in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Ophthalmology.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to ensure their understanding of their pet's condition and treatment plan.
  • Grow the emergency department to the same level of excellence as our other specialties.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in California.
  • At least 2 years of recent emergency clinical experience.
  • Experience working in a multi-doctor referral practice is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited institution.
  • Completion of an ACVECC-approved residency program in Emergency and Critical Care.
  • Board certification in Emergency and Critical Care by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC).
