About the Role

Emergency Medicine position at MercyOne North Iowa, a Level III Trauma Center with 35,000 annual visits. Full-service hospital featuring:

  • 24/7 Hospitalist program
  • Air medical and ambulance services
  • CT/MRI in the department
  • Bed-side ultrasound
  • Point-of-use supplies in every room
  • 42 hours of physician coverage per day

Tertiary center with 300+ physicians and specialist support, including:

  • Trauma surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Cardiology
  • GI
  • ENT
  • Pediatric Hospitalists
  • OBGYN
  • Pulmonary/Critical Care
  • Neurology
  • Infectious Disease
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Anesthesia
  • Radiology

Less than 1% of patients are transferred out. Practice at a single site with teaching opportunities for residents, medical students, and PA/ARNP students.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Hospital-employed position with benefits valued over $65,000
  • Hourly rates:
    • $261.81/hr (night shift)
    • $251.74/hr (day shift)
    • Extra shift bonus pay: $276.92/hr (day); $301.09/hr (night)
  • $60,000 recruitment bonus
  • Up to $15,000 moving allowance
  • 1620 hours/year for full-time (135 12-hour shifts/year)
  • Annual CME allowance of $6,000

Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible (must be certified within 3 years of eligibility)
  • Completion of an ER Residency Program or ER Fellowship
  • H1B candidates encouraged to apply
  • Graduate of a medical or osteopathic medical school
  • Licensed or eligible for State of Iowa physician license
  • Iowa Controlled Substance Certificate and Federal DEA Certificate required
