About the Role
Join a cohesive team of 11 emergency physicians at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH), collectively managing approximately 17,000 patient visits per year. As the regional Trauma and ICU Referral Centre, you will handle complex cases across a diverse demographic including pediatrics, geriatrics, mental health, trauma, and various medical and surgical scenarios.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency medical care in a regional referral centre handling high-acuity cases
- Collaborate with allied health professionals including mental health and substance use nurses, physiotherapists, and 24/7 respiratory therapists
- Participate in facility-wide quality improvement initiatives with dedicated funding
- Engage in medical education through the Southern Medical Program Integrated Clerkship and UBC Family Practice Residency Site
- Contribute to journal clubs, immersive simulations, and M+M rounds
- Serve as part of the 24-hour High Acuity Response Team (HART)

Compensation
- Fee-for-service compensation model
- Guaranteed income of $366,046 to $403,668 per 1.0 FTE (depending on qualifications) through an APP clinical service contract, prorated for part-time positions
- No physician overhead

- Relocation funding: $9,000 if moving within BC, $12,000 within Canada, $15,000 from outside Canada
- Recruitment Incentive: $15,000, prorated for physicians working less than full time
- RCME funding: $440 for up to 2 years in Trail, $2,640 during 3rd and 4th year, $4,840 after 4 years, in addition to Doctors of BC CME funds
