About the role
Under direction, drives or rides an ambulance to provide emergency medical treatment at the scene and during transport to the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Answers all calls for emergency medical treatment.
- Drives ambulance to required location, parks in a safe area, and ensures a safe traffic environment by placing road flares, removing debris, and redirecting traffic.
- Determines the nature and extent of injury and establishes priorities for emergency care.
- Administers emergency care, including opening and maintaining an airway, providing positive pressure ventilation, and performing cardio-resuscitation.
