About the role
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will provide healthcare support at our onsite healthcare clinic located at our client's distribution center in Findlay, OH.
Responsibilities
- Perform triage and provide urgent care to patients.
- Deliver high-quality patient care in line with established protocols.
- May perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing - training provided.
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, pulmonary function tests, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing.
- Determine nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance, basing decisions on statements of persons involved, examination of patient, and knowledge of emergency medical practice.
- Assist clients with case management of injuries and follow-up care.
- Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician and in accordance with state regulations and standing orders.
- Administer prescribed first-aid treatment potentially performing such activities as application of splints, administration of oxygen or intravenous injections, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or administration of artificial resuscitation.
- Communicate with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and to arrange for reception of patients at treatment facility.
- Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center.
- Maintain supplies, clean equipment and onsite clinic.
- Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly.
- Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping.
- Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected.
- Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
- Attend client safety team meetings or huddles as required.
- Aid in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility.
- Aid in assisting clients with wellness activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
- Education Level: High School Diploma or GED
- Certifications and/or Licenses: Certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced EMT CPR/First Aid Certification
- Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, and Hair and Oral Fluids Collection certifications a plus
- OSHA safety certifications or experience a plus
- ARC/CPR Instructor a plus
- Must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations
- Experience in lieu of required education is acceptable: Yes
- Continuing education is required to maintain license and to perform job: Yes
- Job-Related Experience: 3 years 911 experience required
- Fire Fighter experience a plus
