Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs, and participates in the delivery of basic life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation.
  • Gives direction to other crew members when operating as attendant-in-charge on patient care and medical issues.
  • Examines patients and reports findings to receiving medical staff or physicians.
  • Delivers emergency medical care to patients as indicated by medical control or patient care protocols.
  • Operates the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations; company policies; federal, state and local laws, regulations and statutes.
  • Completes and records all required reports or runs made by the crews.
  • Affirms that assigned vehicle is completely stocked and in good running order at the beginning of each shift, after every response and at the end of each shift.
  • Cleans patient care compartment and vehicle in accordance with Company adopted infection control and maintenance guidelines.
  • Fuels unit at the end of every shift to maintain emergency readiness of unit.
  • Maintains office, lounge, bunk room, and vehicle parking area in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Attends training sessions and orientations as required to maintain valid Virginia EMT Certification and requirements of the Company.
  • Maintains all required certifications as an active EMS provider and supplies the Human Resources Department with valid copies of all certifications and driver’s license prior to their expiration date.
  • Performs other related duties as required by management.

Qualifications

  • Current Maryland EMT-B, AMET, EMT-I Certification
  • Current CPR, Healthcare Provider Issue
  • Valid Driver’s License and no negative points
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800cHAZMATTIMS
