Emergency Medical Services Coordinator

Qualified candidates will be notified of the oral examination date five days prior to the test.

Examination

• Oral Exam (Weight 100%): Conducted to appraise training, education, experience, interest, and personal fitness for the position.
• The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials if there are insufficient candidates to warrant an oral examination.
• Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
• Admittance requires a valid government-issued photograph identification. Applicants unable to present proper ID must contact the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.

Minimum Qualifications & Employment Standards

• Possession of a valid paramedic license issued by the State EMS Authority.
• Four years of experience in the pre-hospital emergency medical care field.
• Must obtain a current Kern County Paramedic accreditation prior to the completion of the probationary period.
• A valid Class C California Driver’s License is required at the time of appointment.

Additional Information

• A background check may be conducted for this classification.
• Following an offer of employment, post-offer medical and drug screening tests may be required at County expense.
• This examination will establish an eligible list for immediate and future appointments at Public Health. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for twelve months unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
• Candidates may indicate acceptable geographical locations for employment on their application form.
