About the Role
Join our Emergency Department team known for its compassionate leadership, low turnover, and strong sense of camaraderie. We care for patients with a wide range of acute medical needs, offering you the chance to grow your clinical skills in a supportive environment. This is a PRN, as-needed position available for Day Shift or Night Shift in the Emergency Room (ED) at Novant Health Scotts Hill Medical Center.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of basic patient care activities to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients.
- Complete department-specific tasks to ensure optimal safety and functioning.
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by anticipating needs, supporting daily activities, and promoting comfort and dignity.
- Serve as a trusted partner to nurses and providers, sharing observations and supporting care plans in a fast-paced environment.
- Guide safe mobility and recovery efforts, including ambulation, repositioning, and fall-prevention practices.
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation of vitals and patient status to strengthen communication and clinical decision-making.
- Foster a calm, supportive environment for patients and families, offering reassurance and setting expectations during challenging moments.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Experience: Nurse Aide experience; basic patient care, phlebotomy, and EKG experience in an emergency or outpatient setting highly desirable, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Nurse Aide I and American Heart Association BLS required. Some departments have additional advanced CPR requirements. Phlebotomy Certification, preferred.
Skills
- Ability to modify care according to patient age and specific needs.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
