Emergency Department Technician I

About the role
The Emergency Department Technician functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team, under supervision of the registered nurse. The Emergency Department Technician I performs basic patient care procedures to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients, including, but not limited to:
- Taking vital signs
- Assisting patients with activities of daily living
- Specimen collection
- Performing ECGs
- Post-mold application
- Crutch-walk teaching
- Spinal immobilization
- Basic wound care
- Observation of patients for physical/emotional changes
Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts and communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- American Heart Association BLS for healthcare provider CPR certification
- Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Work, OR EMT-B License in the State of Illinois
Qualifications
- Six or more months of experience in a clinical healthcare environment (preferred)
- Able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and via computer messaging (preferred)
- Six or more months of experience supporting physical, emotional, and psycho-social needs of patients (preferred)
Pay
Expected pay for this position is $18.98 - $22.34/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity. Weekend shift differential: $1.75/hour.

This is an hourly position.
