About the role
Designs curricula, develops programs of study, guides learners, and evaluates learning outcomes. Incorporates principles of adult learning in planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs. Assists students and practicing nurses in identifying learning needs, strengths, and opportunities. Coordinates orientation of new staff, including agency personnel, into the organization. Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming and adjusts content and teaching strategies based on learner needs. Tracks educational offerings and shares information with unit leadership as needed. Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses in all stages of career development. Supports the bedside nurse with Professional Enhancement Program (PEP) and participates in residency programs as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Incorporates principles of adult learning in planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs.
- Plans, prepares, and maintains materials for educational programs, ensuring accuracy and relevance to the target audience.
- Aids students and practicing nurses in identifying learning needs, strengths, and opportunities.
- Coordinates orientation of new staff, including agency personnel, into the organization.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming and adjusts content and teaching strategies based on learner needs.
- Tracks educational offerings and shares information with unit leadership as needed.
- Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses in all stages of career development.
- Supports the bedside nurse with Professional Enhancement Program (PEP) and participates in residency programs as assigned.
Requirements
- 1+ education experience in acute care or academic setting
- 5+ experience in nursing education
- 5+ years nursing experience
- Experience in Nursing Research
Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Nursing
- Master's of Nursing (Preferred)
Skills
- Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, methods of education delivery, and ability to facilitate learners’ achievement of the education objective.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office and adaptability to new software programs.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to make realistic and practical recommendations for problem-solving.
- Strong presentation skills and interpersonal skills.
