Emergency Department Coordinator

About the role

Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN is seeking dedicated and compassionate ED Coordinators to join the Emergency Department team. This role involves interacting with emergency patients, families, physicians, nurses, paramedics, police officers, and other para-medical personnel.

Responsibilities

• First line of contact for emergency patients and families
• Entering patient care data
• Ordering tests as directed
• Chart processing
• Admitting patients
• Screens and answers phone calls
• Assists physicians and nurses with all aspects of patient care
• Coordinates patient flow
• Executes tasks quickly and accurately

Requirements

• Previous experience or recent education (within one year) with office procedures and equipment
• Previous computer experience required
• Previous customer service experience with personal interactions, problem-solving, and multi-tasking

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Education or experience in health care field
• Experience using an electronic medical record
• Health Unit Coordinator Certification or experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Demonstrated understanding of patient rights and HIPAA
