Emergency Communications Center Rep.
About the role
We are seeking a full-time Emergency Communications Center (ECC) Representative (Dispatcher) to work in our New York, NY location. Will cover the overnight shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10 pm to 6 am.
What you need to know
Under general supervision, the Emergency Communications Center Rep. coordinates and serves as a resource for daily operations of a program or service. Act as a liaison between program or service and its internal and external partners. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Specific responsibilities
- Coordinate telephone dispatch (taking calls from the public, fellow Red Cross employees, Red Cross volunteers, as well as fire/police/911 dispatchers).
- Coordinating emergency responses.
- Reporting and keeping detailed records of services and calls.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and coordinate the day-to-day functions that support program or service operations.
- Develop workable program or service implementation plans.
- Support leadership in coordinating casework activities.
- Respond to general inquiries.
- Schedule and coordinates requests for community-based presentations.
- Participate on small scale projects which require researching issues, information, data collection, and development of recommendations.
- Support leadership in coordinating educational and outreach programs.
Minimum qualifications
Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Pay
The salary range for this position is (New York): $25.50. Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the work is performed. The specific salary information will be shared at the time of phone screening based upon your location and qualifications.
Physical requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
