About the role
The EMC Technician supports natural dairy flavor manufacturing by performing production, mixing, blending, and material handling tasks in a food flavor and probiotic ingredient facility. This role follows strict food safety, quality, and documentation standards, operates production equipment and inventory systems, and collaborates closely with the production team to meet daily goals while maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and production procedures are followed and fully documented for all assigned work.
- Perform manual production tasks including material handling and staging, batching, mixing, blending, packaging, cleaning, and sanitizing in support of natural dairy flavor manufacturing.
- Set up, operate, and monitor production equipment used for mixing, blending, and compounding food products in accordance with established procedures.
- Utilize a computer-based inventory control system to track materials, record usage, and maintain accurate production and inventory records.
- Read and follow batch records and production instructions precisely to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to formulas.
- Complete quality documentation accurately and on time, including production logs, batch records, and any required food safety or quality forms.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, including proper use of equipment and personal protective measures, to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area by performing regular cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, tools, and production spaces in line with food safety requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and goals while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Operate a forklift and scissor lift as needed for material movement, staging, and storage within the production facility.
- Adapt to frequent changes in production priorities, unexpected delays, and shifting tasks while remaining professional and focused under pressure.
- Communicate clearly with coworkers and leadership regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- 6 months to 5 years of experience in food production, mixing, blending, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Experience with mixing and blending processes; liquid or dairy blending experience is a plus.
- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of food safety requirements, including HACCP.
- Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Basic understanding of Safe Quality Food (SQF) program principles.
- Experience working in food manufacturing environments with a focus on HACCP and GMP compliance.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production and blending equipment.
- Ability to perform compounding tasks and follow batch formulations accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete quality and production documentation accurately.
- Ability to read and follow batch records and precise written instructions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to follow precise instructions and standard operating procedures consistently.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a production environment.
- Ability to manage frequent changes and unexpected delays while responding professionally under pressure.
- Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift safely in a production setting.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food manufacturing or food production environments with HACCP and GMP exposure.
- Experience with liquid or dairy blending processes.
- Familiarity with computer-based inventory control systems.
- Previous experience in compounding or flavor manufacturing is beneficial.
- Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and self-motivation in prior roles.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Comfort working in a structured, procedure-driven environment focused on food safety and quality.
Work Environment
This role operates in a food flavor and probiotic ingredient facility that emphasizes food safety, quality, and teamwork. The company is family-owned and maintains a team-oriented culture where collaboration and mutual support are highly valued. The environment includes production equipment used for mixing, blending, batching, and compounding, as well as computer-based inventory control systems. Employees may operate forklifts and scissor lifts to move and stage materials. The facility follows strict GMP, HACCP, and Safe Quality Food program standards, requiring consistent adherence to sanitation, cleanliness, and safety procedures.
Schedule
Work is primarily on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime kept minimal and offered on a voluntary basis.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $41,600.00 - $52,000.00 per year.
